The Nor1294 Phase Verification Coupler is essential in the phase correction process. This page discribes the use of the unit.
Inserting microphones

To insert the microphones into the Nor1294, ensure the spacers are removed. Open the ventilation on the Nor1294 by rotating the edges of the coupler, ensuring the indicator shows "Open".

Gently insert the microphones into the coupler. Ensure the microphones are completely inserted by applying pressure to the microphones and rotating the coupler slightly. For the Nor1290 probe, tighten the Spacer Adjustment Knob.

Rotate the Coupler into closed position.

Connecting the Nor1294 to Nor150

The Nor1294 is driven by the Nor150. Please connect the jack directly into the headphone output of the Nor150.

Removing the microphones

Before removal, please open the coupler to avoid stress on the microphones.

Principle of operation

The Nor1294 is designed to produce a completely symmetric sound field for two microphones. By exposing the microphones to exactly the same sound field, the pressure-intensity residual index may be measured, and phase-mismatch in intensity probes can be corrected.

Unique to the Nor1294 is its low-frequency response. By sealing the coupler completely, low-frequency sound pressure will not leak out. In open configuration, the large ventilation reduces insertion pressure on the microphone diapraghms as well.

The Nor1294 comprises four symmetrically aligned loudspeakers to create the sound field. The signal is generated from the Nor150.
