This page describes how to set up the measurements parameters in the Sound Intensity Mode.
The Measurement menu

All measurement parameters are controlled from the measurement menu, accessed by entering Setup->Measurement. The only exception is the Surface Definition, which has its own menu.

Basic parameters

Some parameters are static and cannot be changed once a measurement has been made. These are

Global time, defining the maximum time a measurement will be ongoing. If you reach the Global time, the measurement is automatically stopped. For intensity measurements, this is useful for fixed point, but for scanning techniques the global time should be set to much longer than you would expect a scan to be ongoing.

Profile A, defining the time resolution. In the current version of the Nor150, profile is not available for intensity measurements.

Filter, setting the bandwidth and frequency range of the measurement. In intensity mode, A,C and Z total values are calculated from the individual bands. The calculation range is independent of the Filter Range, and thus we recommend that Filter Range is always set to 20 Hz to 20 kHz to retain all information. The calculation range is set in the Weighted Sum Freq Range setting.

Calculation parameters

These parameters are not fixed after a measurement is started, and can be changed at any time. A change will cause an instant recalculation of the results.

Weighted Sum Freq Range defines the frequency range from which the A, C and Z sums are calculated.

Excluded Bands gives the option to exclude certain bands from the calculation. The exclusion option is also available from the context menu when viewing results, and these bands will be marked with a blue warning indicator.

Standard-related

These parameters will depend on the first parameter, Standard. Most standards will have an option for accuracy grade. For scanning technique standards, an option is provided to view only horizontal or vertical scans, or let the user scan both before the result is presented.

Predefined measurement setups

From the factory, the Nor150 is equipped with some standard measurement setups, like the ISO 9614-2 standard. This setup may be loaded from Setup->Applications->Sound Intensity.

You may also create your own measurement setups by going to Setup->Memory->Save Measurement Setup As.

The measurement setup includes the Surface Definition parameters.
